The Archipelago Company’s plan is simple. Integrate the dormitory towns orbiting London into a single network. Declare economic independence. No congestion charges, uncontrolled building booms and high prices matched by declining employment. Just help yourself to the raftloads of money-making schemes that float out toward the M25.
Nothing wrong with the idea - just the differing interests of its founders pulling in all directions. There’s a bank that’s come down in the world. A university that wants to be a business. And an IT company that wants to run the country. Not to mention the bottom feeders: a language school with delusions of grandeur, a mysterious firm of Swiss lawyers and many more.

TALES FROM THE LONG BAR
Nostalgia may not be what it used be, but do you ever get the feeling that the future’s not worth holding your breath for either? Do you remember the double edged sword that was ‘having a proper job’ and struggling within the coils of the multiheaded monster that was ‘the organisation’? Are you fed up with forever having to hit the ground running, working dafter not smarter - and always being in a rush trying to dress down on Fridays?
For anyone who knows what’s what (but can’t do much about it), Tales from the Long Bar should prove entertaining. If it doesn’t, it will at least reassure you that you are not alone.

DOWN TO A SUNSET SEA
When fifty is the new thirty what should fiftysomethings look forward to under OurGov? Respect when it's due? Respect when it's choked out of you, more likely. Yes it’s true: they really are conspiring against us. And not just OurGov.
Folk proudly calling themselves 'Oligarchs' (easier to pronounce than 'Kleptocrat'). Saxons wanting to link up with their Anglo-Saxon cousins. Austrians feeling ostalgie and wanting their imperial influence back.
What's not legislated for isn't allowed. OurGov will provide. And if can’t it’ll explain why you didn’t really need it in the first place. Scant consolation that if anything does go wrong, it'll never be your fault.
So the vigilantsias arise. Standing up for fathers' rights and quieter Sundays. For better spoken English. Against scruffy clothes. Against the Beachhead volleyball of OurGov and its corporative vision. And in the Blogosphere thousands can see you scream.
