The son of a soldier, Stephen Simmons spent some of his early years in Hong Kong returning later as a soldier himself to spend two years with 48 Gurkha Brigade in the dying days of the ‘Raj’.
On leaving the Army, he returned to Hong Kong to join an investment bank and then spent much of the next 10 years living and working in Hong Kong and in Thailand and travelling extensively throughout Asia recording some of his destinations in his book ‘Club Class in Asia Pacific’.
He now lives in the English county of Sussex and in Bangkok with his wife and two children.
